Top tag stars – The Henchmen and the UK Hooligans.

THE UK Hooligans (Roy and Zack Knight) aim to start 2017 with a bang when hitting the tag team trail in All Star’s opening programmes of the New Year at Aylesbury on Friday 6 January and Bromley on Sunday 15 January. The Norfolk-based sons of long-time tag specialist Ricky Knight, well-remembered from his ‘Super Flys’ days alongside Jimmy Ocean, will give away weight when climbing into the ring at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre to oppose formidable Midlands pairing The Henchmen, the near 40 stones combination of Benton Destruction and Jim Diehard. Starting at 6pm and with tickets including a special £45 family offer covering two adults and two children on sale at the venue or bookable by phone to 0844-871-7006 the programme also brings an international solo test for Superslam Champion Dean Allmark from Finland’s tattooed ‘Nasty Boy’ Vitto Puro while three further supporting matches include ladies diva action with Bournemouth-based Connie Steele, daughter of wrestling legend Klondyke Kate, taking on fast climbing new Hampshire contender The Phoenix.

Bromley stars (l to r): ‘DnD,’ James Mason and Nicky, Oliver Grey and Connie Steele.

BROMLEY’S Churchill Theatre line-up, with a 7.30 bell time on 15 January, will see the UK Hooligans challenged by South London high flyers ‘DnD,’ the partnership consisting of Danny Duggan and Ciaran Donnelly having made great progress during 2016 to become special favourites with fans at Gravesend’s Woodville Hall and other leading locations in the south. The line-up will also see James Mason back in the ring for the first time since his early December marriage to girlfriend Nicky while there will be tests for two stars returning after injury. Dean Allmark is back after suffering knee trouble at the end of November and Oliver Grey competes after his back knock in the same period was fortunately not as severe as first thought. Further bouts will include a ladies’ sizzler featuring Connie Steele. Tickets, including the special £45 family offer, are now on sale at the Churchill Theatre box office, telephone 0203-28560000.

THE curtain comes down through the festive period on 40 years of All Star Superslam action at the Butlin’s resorts. There will be action at Skegness on Wednesday 21 December; at both Minehead and Bognor Regis on Boxing Day; with more Minehead bouts on Wednesday 28 December and a Skegness show on Thursday 29 December. Then All Star wind-up with shows at all three resorts on New Year’s Day, 1 January 2017. Looking ahead, All Star will still be on the Haven circuit with more than 30 July and August shows each week at centres in England, Scotland and Wales.

In the picture (l to r): Gangrel, Harlem Bravado, Vitto Puro and Fabian Severe.

WITH ‘Vampire Warrior’ Gangrel already confirmed for an All Star tour in February and Finland’s Vitto Puro set to continue his rampage through British rings, another Stateside notable Harlem Bravado will be starting a six month tour. Hailing from Draper, North Carolina, Bravado first campaigned here alongside his brother Lance during the summer of 2015 and followed-up with solo appeances in  summer 2016. The pair have vast experience in solo and tag team action with American appearances for Ring of Honor, Chikara, Full Limits and they went to Japan in 2012 for Pro-Wrestling Noah. Sabre-toothed force Gangrel will be seen during a busy February school half term holiday period with All Star appearances at centres including Hanley, Dartford, Epsom, Hull, Dunstable and Leamington Spa. Gangrel was as fiercely competitive as always when in Britain early in 2016 and he is already said to be lining-up a tag partner for team as well as solo contests. Also planning a UK return will be Fabian Severe, the Germany-based heavyweight star trained at their ‘Wright Stuff’ school in Nuremburg by British father and son combination Steve and Alex Wright.
