MAORI WARRIOR Niwa caused a major upset at the end of last year when becoming the first holder of All Star’s 50th anniversary year ‘People’s Champion’ title and belt. Now the long haired globetrotter, originally from Auckland, has been at it again claiming another major wrestling scalp when inflicting a shock defeat of Oliver Grey to lift the prestigious Superslam Championship at the Woodville, Gravesend, on Wednesday 19 February. Now supported over here by countrymen Kayne Khan, who wrestles as K9, and hard hitting J.K.Moody, Niwa will not be able to rest on his laurels as the programme at the Oakengates Theatre at Telford on Friday 6 March has been re-arranged to include a championship re-match that gives Devon destroyer Grey a chance to regain his title. The programme starting at 7.30pm also brings a tag test for the popular pairing of tattooed ‘Love Island’ star Adam Maxted and Wirral-based favourite Dean Allmark who face C.J.Banks and London hard man Danny Duggan. Blond bombshell Mariah May who has been making a name for herself alongside Duggan in mixed tag events since the beginning of the year this time hits the solo trail in a ladies clash against the formidable Dominiata. The Menacing Maoris will be on the tag trail on Saturday 7 March at the Town Hall, Dudley, with Niwa, K9, J.K.Moody and Paul Savage going into an eight man event when facing a home formation consisting of Dean Allmark, Adam Maxted, James Mason and teenage prospect Jordan Black. The programme has an early evening start at 6pm and will also feature more ladies action with Mariah May.
Nagasaki Heading for
Left to right: Dean Allmark, Jordan Black, Kendo Nagasaki and Mariah May
WRESTLING legend Kendo Nagasaki will step through the ropes and into the ring at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, as All Star Promotions continue celebrations to mark their 50th anniversary with the programme on Saturday 14 March from 6pm that will be headed by international tag team action as top favourites Dean Allmark and Adam Maxted face Maori Warrior Niwa and partner Kayne Khan, who wrestles as K9. Nagasaki, alias Peter Thornley, was one of British wrestling’s top attractions for more than two decades after first making his mark in the 1960s by ending the long unbeaten run of Count Bartelli. Kendo will not be wearing his mask at New Brighton and at the end of the programme there will be an opportunity for fans to take part in a ‘Meet and Greet’ session with him. The Floral Pavilion is the closest venue to All Star’s new base in Bromborough and Wirral based Allmark, head coach of All Star’s acclaimed Training School, also now operating from 2 Caldbeck Road in the Croft Leisure Park every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 9.30, will be pulling out all the stops for victory as he joins Belfast-born Maxted who has made an impressive return to wrestling after figuring in ITVs hit ‘Love Island.’ Another New Zealander out to impress will be J.K.Moody who made his ring debut in 2016 and after then heading for Australia his has maintained impressive progress although he will need to find something special to overcome all-action and often outspoken Humbersider Nathan Cruz. The programme also gives a chance for Wirral local lad Jordan Black to shine in front of a home crowd as the All Star Training School graduate who is tipped for a bright future in the wrestling world takes on takes on aggressive Middlesbrough star Micky Long. Tickets are now on sale at the Floral Pavilion Box Office, telephone, 0151-660000, include a special £45 family offer covering two adults and two children under 16. The previous night, Friday 13 March it might well be unlucky for some of those in action at the Civic Centre, Whitechurch, where the programme starts at 7.30.

AFTER being closed for many months during a major internal renovation, Croydon’s Fairfield Halls complex has re-opened and All Star Wrestling returned on Thursday 20 February with a big bill that attracted a capacity crowd and featured top home and visiting stars the latter’s February compliment including sabre toothed ‘Vampire Warrior’ Gangrel, Maori Warrior Niwa, ‘Belgian Bull’ Robin Lequime and French force Thomas LaRuffa. South London-born James Mason made a popular Fairfield return and there was also a divas showdown pitting Mariah May against Italian stallion Miss Monica. Croydon long figured in All Star’s top venues listings and already details have been announced for another Croydon event to take place at the Fairfield Complex on Easter Saturday 11 April with a 7pm bell time. Then the following week brings Easter action in an Epsom Playhouse line-up on Tuesday 14 April before the next night (Wednesday 15 April) sees the spotlight back on the Woodville, Gravesend, and then on Thursday 16 April All Star head south for another big bill at the Pavilion Ballroom in Bournemouth and with all three shows starting at 7.30pm.
